The Church Must Support Ron Paul!
The federal government has proved a tremendous impediment to the ongoing work of Christians. In all the laws that they have passed against Christian schools, gagging the church, taxation, and all kinds of things that they have done, they have made it harder for the church to exercise its prerogatives and to preach the gospel.
"Take the last presidential election. There were numbers of things that I knew that I was never able to say from the pulpit because if you advance the cause of one candidate or impede the cause of the other you can lose your tax exemption. That would have been disastrous not only for the church, but for our school and our seminary, everything. So you are gagged. You cannot do that. The IRS, a branch of our government, has succeeded in gagging Christians." - Rev. D. James Kennedy
Acceptance of State favors has, indeed, had "disastrous" consequences on the churches in America. The church has been effectively silenced (or as Dr. Kennedy put it, "gagged"). Now the disastrous consequences are being felt by the entire nation. Is there a remedy? Yes! The church can be re-empowered and regain the former glory and influence she once knew in America. But in order to do so the church must stop acting as an underling, as a subordinate, as a dependent, of the State. The church must cease asking for State favors.
3 John 1:7
If Ron Paul were to be elected then he would actively work to eliminate the income tax, and thus the “gag” that prevents pastors from bringing important issues to the attention of the congregation. Our pastors and congregations are selling their right of free speech for tax write-offs on unconstitutional taxes! There is no place where Ron Paul’s message is needed more than in our churches.
We need to actively approach our church leaders with Ron Paul’s message, because the mainstream media are not helping. If each church took one Sunday off and didn’t “collect offerings” and instead held a “public meeting” in a “church building” then they could educate their congregations on some of the VERY IMPORTANT issues and where Ron Paul stands. The Church must stand for the Truth and liberty otherwise it will loose the very freedom that it needs to thrive.
I am not a lawyer, but I suspect that most churches could and should “rebel” against the use of the IRS to regulate things that our Congress has no business regulating! They will likely get a few warnings before losing their tax-exempt status anyway. I would rather my church loose its tax-exempt status than bend to the will of our government. In the long run, the money lost would do more for the cause of Christ than keeping the money.
Ron Paul’s message is too important and doesn’t come around often enough for our churches to remain silent. They must take action. Not only Christian churchs, but all religious organizations and charities should support Ron Paul. Voting for Ron Paul would do more for the poor of our country than the lost donations and tax write-offs ever could.
Disclaimer: I am not suggesting that Churches should promote a theocracy, but that they should promote the values of our founding fathers: small government, freedom of religion (not freedom from religion), personal responsibility, etc. They have an obligation to fight the powers that wish to limit freedom, censor religion, or kill, steel, and destroy our country.
